Extreme Fishing with Robson Green: Season 7, Episode 2

7 - 2:

Mozambique is one of the lesser-known African countries, often bypassed by visitors in favour of the more established East African destinations to the north. For the adventurous angler keen to throw a line in more uncharted waters, however, Mozambique is perfect for all forms of fishing. Robson’s first opponent this week is Duarte Rato, one of the country’s top sports fisherman with an international reputation for catching monster game fish. Duarte fishes the tropical waters of the Bazaruto Archipelago. Just off the mainland, this is one of the largest marine reserves in the Indian Ocean and home to an extraordinary diversity of fish species. He and Robson go head-to-head in an all-species challenge, hoping to drag up the finest ocean predators. Next, Robson challenges a champion fly fisherman, holder of seven world records, to a contest to see who can catch the biggest king mackerel and trevally in the Indian Ocean. A full-time subsistence fisherman is Robson’s opponent on his third challenge. His catch feeds his village, so when Robson gets blown away and is caught in a strong current, will they go hungry? Heading to the north of the country, Robson’s next destination is one of Africa’s best-kept fishing secrets. Lake Cahora Bassa, 270km long and 30km wide in places, is home to a huge variety of wildlife, including his latest target – electric catfish. His opponent is a local man who has been catching catfish since he was knee-high to a crocodile, so this challenge promises to be electrifying! The final challenge also takes place at Lake Cahora Bassa. This time Robson tries to catch tiger fish against a professional skipper. When Robson took on this remarkable fish previously, it took him two days just to catch one. Will he have better luck this time?
